Requiescant in Pace: Archbishop Emeritus John G. Vlazny

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Archbishop John Vlazny, a beloved spiritual father and joyful witness to the Gospel. He led the local Church through some of its most challenging times with kindness, wisdom, and steadfast faith. His love for the priesthood and episcopal ministry was evident to all who knew him. Archbishop Vlazny leaves behind a lasting legacy in Western Oregon and will be deeply missed. May the Lord, whom he served so faithfully, grant him eternal rest.

Funeral Arrangements

Visitation: Thursday, June 5 from 1:00-6:15 PM at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Vigil Service: (immediately following the Visitation): Thursday, June 5 at 6:30 PM

Funeral Mass: Friday, June 6 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

A livestreaming of the Mass will be available

A reception will follow in the Cathedral School



Rite of Committal: Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 2:30 PM
