Lenten Communal Reconciliation
Tuesday, March 11th at 7:00PM. Please join us for communal prayer followed by individual confessions with Fr. Sirianni, Fr. Cwiekowski, Fr. Tyrrell, and Fr. Henderson.
Msgr. Charles Lienert will share his insights and knowledge on the scriptures of the Lenten season. He will speak here at STM in the Church on two Thursday evenings in March at 7 pm. On March 13, he will discuss the Lenten scriptures and consider the question, “What is Jesus telling us this Lenten season?” On March 20, he will discuss the Gospel of John.
Stations of the Cross
Every Friday during Lent, please join us in the church for Stations of the Cross at 7:00PM.
Easter Basket Food Drive
Looking for a meaningful Lenten resolution? Participate in the STM Easter Basket Food Drive supporting St. Andrew Nativity School in NE Portland! Our goal is to provide an EASTER DINNER food box with a ham to all 65 families at Nativity School. We will include an Easter Basket of treats for each family too.
Easter Egg tags and instructions will be on the Easter Tree in the rear of the church beginning Saturday, March 15th. Please take a tag and we will give you a recyclable shopping bag and (a short & simple!) shopping list. Please return the filled bag to the church by Palm Sunday, April 13th. Tags for cash and Easter treats will be available as well. NO PERISHABLE ITEMS WILL BE COLLECTED. Thank you! Call Robin Becic at 503-297-4639 or Marilyn Whitaker at 503-799-6418.
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Healing will be offered after the Masses on Saturday, March 15th and Sunday, March 16th.
Lenten Bible Study
During the season of Lent, consider joining a faith sharing group in preparation for our journey to Easter. Seven Lenten Bible Study Groups will meet once a week during the six weeks of Lent. This is a great way to meet and get to know other members of our parish community. We invite you to join us. Please sign up in the church or contact Kim Zea in the church office at 503-222-2055.
Calling All Pitch Players
You don’t want to miss the Patton Guild’s 4th Annual Pitch and Bridge Party on Sunday, March 16th in the Parish Hall at 3 pm. A buffet supper and dessert, with drinks included, will be served. The cost is $30.00 per person. Pitch players come one and all. Bridge players please organize your table of four players. To reserve a spot, please RSVP to Marge Hill at 503-228-0092.
SW HOPE Feed the Hungry
Neighborhood House operates the largest food pantry on Portland’s west side, providing emergency food boxes to approximately 500 families (or 1,200 individuals) each month. The goal is to collect 175,000 pounds of food, or the cash equivalent ($1 = 4lbs).
Since 2006, each spring Southwest Portland Faith Organizations and Community Partners work together to meet the needs of hungry people in Southwest Portland. In 2014, despite improvements in the economy, the need still continues to be very high. This year’s food drive begins March 2nd through April 13th. Please bring canned and non-perishable food items to the church. Baskets for donations are at the church entrances.
New dates are available for working at the Blanchet House. The work begins at 4:30pm and is done at 6:30pm. We can only take 10 people each time. Please don’t bring any extra people who haven’t signed up. There are dates available for the parish/school children to participate. Contact Kim Zea at 503-222-2055 x-14 for more information.
Religious Education (R.E.)
Religious Education classes for children in grades 1-5 will meet in the Parish Hall on Monday evenings from 6:45pm until 8:00pm. These classes are designed for both Non-Catholic and Catholic school children. For information, call Kim Zea at 503-222-2055 x-14.
(Ages 3 to Kindergarten)
The Little Angels Sunday Preschool is on Sundays during the 10am Mass. Parents may drop their children off at the STM School Kindergarten room door and return after Mass to pick up. Children will not be dismissed until a parent arrives to pick their child up. Parents of participating families will be expected to take turns being classroom helpers. WE are in NEED of a full-time Sunday Preschool teacher. If you love this age group and have the ability to teach the gospel message, please contact Kim Zea or Margaret Schuster at the parish office 503-222-2055. A stipend is included with this position.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)
All Parish children, grades 1-5, are invited to join us during the Liturgy of the Word at the 10am Mass. During this time the children will hear the Sunday readings in a story they will understand. They will have an opportunity to share with each other what Christ’s message is for all of us. The children will return to Mass to rejoin the congregation at the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
